About the project

Rent an American has been arranging school visits with guests from the United States and Canada with schools in the administrative district of Tuebingen since 2007. As discussion partners and experts, you represent your country and are citizen diplomats. The so-called rentees give insights in their everyday life (Conversation Visit) or if you are a language trainer with the GAI, you will provide a transatlantic perspective on topics of the curriculum (Presentation and Project Visit). Our Formats

Workshop

We offer an introductory workshop for program participants biannually (April and October). You receive training in intercultural communication and you will be prepared for school visits. The next workshop will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10 am to 4 pm*. During the course of the service-learning program, you as a rentee have the opportunity to learn and develop social skills. In collaboration with the University of Tuebingen, you are able to earn one ECTS, if you complete at least 3 school visits and hand in a written report on your experience as a citizen diplomat.
